This One’s for the Cops! (demo)
(This is a rough demo of the song that’ll be on my new album this fall)
This song is called “This One’s for the Cops!” but it’s really for Michael Brown of Ferguson, MO, Eric Garner of New York City, Ayisha Jones of Detroit, MI, John Crawford of Cincinnati, OH. It’s for all of our loved ones, our brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and cousins and parents and grandparents who have been beaten, stripped, degraded, shot, and murdered for being black, Latino, young, poor, trans, homeless, mentally ill, or otherwise different. It’s for the 15 year old Mexican girl who was brutally beaten by four cops in Fargo, ND, while nine more looked on, because one “smelled weed.” It’s for a toddler who had a grenade thrown in his crib in a no-knock drug raid. It us for us, because cops are gunning us down.
Three cheers for the cops.
